Portsmouth, New Hampshire — The Gallery at LaBelle Winery Portsmouth, in partnership with Sullivan Framing and Fine Art Gallery in Bedford, New Hampshire, will present an exhibit titled “What Caught My Eye: Recent Works From Marcia Blakeman” from Feb. 3, 2020 through March 30, 2020.

An opening reception for the show will be held on March 6, 2020 from 5 to 8 p.m. in conjunction with Portsmouth’s Art ‘Round Town First Friday events. Admission to the reception is free. To register for the reception visit LaBelleWineryEvents.com.

“What Caught My Eye: Recent Works From Marcia Blakeman” recently wrapped up a showing at The Gallery at LaBelle Winery Amherst where it was up from Oct. 3, 2019 to Jan. 26, 2020. During that time 11 of Blakeman’s paintings were sold.

Blakeman, who grew up in Wyoming and now lives in New Hampshire, has always loved the outdoors and considers herself to be primarily a landscape painter. Light, shadows and contrasts are constants in her art. After painting for several years in watercolor, she became drawn to pastels because of their pure pigment and texture.

“I am not an artist who paints to make a statement,” Blakeman says. “I hope that what I do preserves a small part of nature for all to enjoy and appreciate.”

Blakeman holds a bachelor of arts degree in advertising design from Metropolitan State College in Denver, Colorado.

“We are honored to be exhibiting the artwork of Marcia Blakeman at LaBelle Winery. Blakeman’s new paintings are wonderful depictions of the depth of beauty in our natural landscape,” says Amy Sullivan, owner of Sullivan Framing and Fine Art Gallery.
