Amherst, N.H. – Amy LaBelle, winemaker and co-owner of LaBelle Winery, recently announced that the winery’s restaurant, The Bistro at LaBelle Winery, will be participating in the James Beard Foundation’s Blended Burger Project., a nationwide contest and challenge to produce a “blended” burger by combining ground meat with finely chopped mushrooms to create a delicious, healthier and more sustainable version of America’s favorite sandwich.

LaBelle has chosen to feature “The Winemaker’s Blended Burger” for $15, which replaces 25 percent of the ground beef with a combination of umami-rich mushrooms, caramelized then finished in a LaBelle red wine reduction. The burger also contains fresh tarragon, The Winemaker’s Kitchen steak seasoning and is topped with a LaBelle’s Seyval Blanc wine béarnaise sauce, Boston lettuce and fried shallots coated with The Winemaker’s Kitchen steak seasoning.

The burger will be available from Memorial Day, May 29, through July 31, 2017.

Blending meat with mushrooms reduces calories, fat and sodium while adding important nutrients like vitamin D, potassium and B vitamins. A blended burger also brings more sustainable, plant-based ingredients to menus, allowing diners to enjoy the taste and flavor of the burgers they love, knowing it’s a healthier and more sustainable preparation.

Diners can vote and support LaBelle Winery and the Blended Burger Project by doing the following:

1. Order The Winemaker’s Blended Burger.
2. Post a photo of the burger to social media sites and promote the hashtag #BlendedBurgerProject.
3. Vote for LaBelle’s burger at bit.ly/voteforlabelle and enter “LaBelle Winery” in the search box.

By voting, diners will be entered to win an all-expenses-paid trip for two to the 2018 Blended Burger Event at the Historic James Beard House in New York City.

When the promotion concludes at 11:59 p.m. on July 31, 2017, the five chefs with the most online votes will also win a trip to the James Beard House, where they will showcase their blended burgers at an exclusive event in 2018.
